Our company entitled "Lords of the Seas" was created to give tribute to the Irish for their skills of nautical navigation and for their passionate love of knowledge and the written word. Our logo, the sailboat, (an approximation of the curragh) represents the courage and skill the Irish had for sailing; the notecards and thank you cards emphasize the illumination of the pictures and text while theverse on the cards reflects the wealth of knowledge and wisdom the Irish created and practiced. Since so many Irish people appreciate the beauty of writing and expressing sentiments to others, we at "Lords of the Seas" wanted to create the "writing canvas" for that purpose. "Lords of the Seas" offers Celtic art and wisdom in a variety of stationery formats: Notecards, Thank You Cards, Wedding Cards, Birthday Cards, Wedding Prayers and Celtic Art that is encompassed in a sturdy black paper frame that is capable of standing on a desk or other prominent spot. We have expanded our line of gift products that represent the essence of what we think the Irish people would derive long term value and enjoyment from. Our company is entering its second year of business and are located in the Rochester, NY, region. We are fortunate to be surrounded by a thriving Irish culture in the Buffalo and Rochester region. We look forward to meeting many Irish people! Go raibh maith agat. www.lordsoftheseas.org |

My father, David Browne, learned to make traditional Welsh cookies from his mother-in-law over 45 years ago, and made them for family and friends during the holidays during my youth. After he retired in 1996, he began taking his cookies to local Scottish festivals in Northern Ohio, where they were a huge hit. Since 1996, Dad, my older brother Mike, and I have averaged about 60 festivals each year, selling cookies, telling stories, and making friends from New Mexico to Florida to Massachusetts. The Original Welsh cookie is known by other names, including Welsh Cakes or Miner's Cakes. The nutmeg and black currant cookie was taken by generations of Welsh coal miners down below to sustain them during their long shifts in the mines. Our family continues to make the Original cookie, and has added a wide variety of flavors to appeal to the fruit, nut, and chocolate lovers among the population. www.welshcookieman.com |
